I wanted to share this wonderful article where Mathew Vines lists 10 reasons that God Loves Gay Christians. I am particularly struck by point 9 which is that humans are relational. Genesis 1:26 says that God made us in his image. God is relational and so are we, literally created to love and share our lives with others. Obviously some people are called to celibacy, certain Priests for example, but I don’t believe that it’s right to say (as some try to argue) that all LGBT people should be celibate. That’s not how God made us. God made us relational – relational to each other and relational to him. He wants us to love one another and he wants us to love him, as he loves us. Sometimes the church or individual Christians reject us, but I am clear that God doesn’t.
